For centuries, cathedrals have been centers for musical and artistic expression, helping to comfort, inspire, and refresh parishioners and visitors alike. The Cathedral of Saint Paul maintains this tradition with diverse music and arts programming that creates vitality for our community and neighborhood. It includes Cathedral Choir concerts and performances with the Cathedral Choir School of Minnesota, free presentations, and special events. We look forward to welcoming you!

Organ Concert with Samuel Backman

Cathedral of Saint Paul
Organist Samuel Backman will present a concert on our marvelous pipe organs on Wednesday, June 21 at 7:30 p.m. The concert is presented as part of the Church Music Association of America’s national colloquium being held in St. Paul.
A native of Duluth, Sam holds a Masters of Music degree from Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music and a Bachelor of Music degree, Magna Cum Laude from Saint Olaf College. Sam is currently working on an advanced degree in Oklahoma. An active Church musician since the age of 12, at one time Sam served on our sacred music staff assisting with the Choristers and playing for liturgies. He gave a well-regarded program at the Cathedral in 2015.
